PETER COLBY (1937 - 1988)
was a trained gunsmith and
Banjo & Autoharp Player and Builder in the Boston/NewEngland Area.
He modified the Van Eps design for his personal 5 String Banjo.
By 1970 he made at least one other for Mary Faith
which has been faithfully reproduced here
for Breezy Ridge by Pennsylvania Craftsmen.
The perfect combination of Beauty & Functionality,
the ColbyT presses the strings down toward the banjo head
while stretching them almost to the width of the bridge.
It creates a greater angle of the strings against the bridge
for better sound and stability.
